Saturday 10th – Sunday 25th June, daily 11am-5pm

Every summer for many years, artist and former art school head Frank Taylor and his wife Christine have opened their home, a large early Victorian house and garden on Albury Heath in the Surrey Hills, to show the work of more than 50 artists whose work they admire. Many of these artists are well-known in their part of the world, some have national or international reputations, but their work is not often shown in this part of the country.

Frank Taylor will be showing a small retrospective collection of paintings, prints and posters from his long career as a professional artist, as well as new prints and paintings

Exhibiting at Fircroft for the first time are Somerset painter Michael Tarr, Cardiff potter Paul Taylor, textile designer Neil Bottle from Kent and jeweller Christine Johnson from the Isle of Wight.

Michael Tarr’s paintings show his fascination with the colourful geometry found in the world around us, close to home or far away, including glimpses of the sun-soaked Italian seaside. Michael has had work selected on three occasions (inc. catalogue illustration 2013) for the RA Summer Exhibition and has shown with the RWA, RI, and RWS. He has had many solo exhibitions in London and the South West.

Neil Bottle is an established textile designer with works in the collections of the V&A, the Crafts Council and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York. He has produced designs for a number of prestigious clients including Liberty, Harrods, Browns and Fortnum and Mason. His work has been shown in many leading galleries and museums around the country. He has designed ranges of accessories for the British Museum, the V&A, the RA, the Globe Theatre, and the Guggenheim in New York. He is Programme Director for Fashion Textiles at the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester.

Neil is showing a small selection of wall hangings as well as smaller items – scarves and cushions.

Eight ceramicists, three glass artists and fourteen jewellers are showing work this year. Whilst many have exhibited at Fircroft regularly, potter Paul Taylor who makes distinctive and colourful vessels is a newcomer, and glassmaker Debbie Timperley and ceramicist Jane Silk are returning after a few years.

In the garden are animal, plant and insect inspired metal sculptures by Chris Kampf and George Hider from Somerset, Steve Blaylock from Yorkshire, along with Hampshire sculptor Paul Harvey’s exquisite birds and work by some of Zimbabwe’s leading first, second and third generation stone sculptors. In the house is a display of sculptures by leading international known first generation sculptor Fanizani Akuda,
