Prologue Youth Theatre Company was founded in August 2020 by a team of dedicated, passionate industry professionals, who pride themselves on creating exciting, challenging, dynamic theatre workshops for young people, aged 8-25, in a safe, nurturing environment.

Prologue runs weekly workshop sessions during term-time, Monday-Wednesday evenings in Guildford, where groups have the opportunity to explore a variety of theatre styles and genres.

In addition to their weekly workshops, Prologue produces annual summer productions – where the entire company has the opportunity to join together and perform.
Their shows have been in collaboration with Guildford’s very own Dapdune Wharf – with the performances set amongst their beautiful backdrop, as outdoor-theatre productions.

Past productions have been: The Wind in the Willows – July 2021; and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – July 2022.

Prologue’s ethos focuses on the ‘company environment’. It is a place to create and play – where young people can freely be themselves as individuals, while also collaborating as part of an ensemble, in a group of like-minded, creative peers.

The team at Prologue believe that a kind rehearsal room is a creative one, and instil this in everything they do.

Here’s what some of Prologue’s Company Members (and parents!) have to say:

“Prologue has given me so much confidence and so much happiness”

“Thanks to Prologue I have grown so much as an actor and a person”

“Prologue has really built on this idea that allows us as creatives to really find our expression through this beautiful art form”

“There is simply nothing like the experience of being part of a diverse team with a common goal, high standards, professional support and nurturing ethos. I would recommend it to anyone.”

Prologue offers ‘no-obligation trails’ to anyone who is interested in joining, and also ensures that finance is never a barrier to accessing theatre with a range of bursaries available.
