The Floral Fringe Fair is nothing if not eccentric and that’s certainly reflected in the wonderfully inventive steampunk costumes, and vintage clothing of many eras our visitors choose to wear. From simply quirky and colourful, to authentic period vintage, we see it all at the Fair and we actively encourage you to do the same if you’re coming along. Let’s bring back dressing for an occasion, even if it’s just a fabulous hat!

What is Steampunk? It’s a style of design and fashion that combines retro-futuristic technology & aesthetics, creating an historical-looking style with a subversive twist. And as the name implies, there’s a strong reference in the accessories to the golden age of steam power with lots of cogs, gearings, vintage googles and so forth. The punk aspect is seen in the impactful and flamboyant colours of the costumes, and the bold hair and make-up styles you wouldn’t normally see alongside a Victorian corset or top hat! You’ll see many very dedicated Steampunk devotees at the fair, showing off their Explorer, Adventurer, Engineer, Pirate or Aristocrat styles.

The classic car aspect of the Fair naturally lends itself to many other classic vintage costume looks, from the smartly stylish 1930’s right through to the 60’s / 70’s hippies. Whatever floats your boat costume-wise, you’re bound to fit right in and find a vehicle style to match and have your photo taken next to!

Whatever era you want to come dressed up as, remember to bring your picnic rug and utensils, as our wonderful selection of food stalls promise a range of gastronomic delights for you to build the perfect lunch from.

Everyone is catered for with vegetarian, vegan and GF options available across the site. Treat yourself to wagyu burgers, vegan wraps, vegetable pakoras and bhajis, quiche and salads, eastern Mediterranean street food, home-baked cakes and pastries, ice creams, doughnuts and much more besides.

Quench your thirst at our vintage tea tent or perk yourself up with a coffee from one of the pop-up cafes and vans. And for those wanting a cool drink there’s plenty of options in the beer tent, including beer, cider, wine, Pimms, cocktails, mocktails and of course soft drinks.
