Prologue Youth Theatre Company intend to initiate an early career’s opportunity for someone looking to get into theatre creation, production, directing, facilitation and youth theatre.

A bit about us…

Prologue Youth Theatre Company provides high-quality workshops for ages 8 to 25, helping young people develop performance skills and nature creativity.

We are a not-for-profit, limited company, based in the Guildford area. Our experienced team is made up of like-minded and passionate theatre professionals.

Our main goal in any project is to give young people the confidence and opportunity to be creative, express themselves and thrive. To play, to explore and become.

We provide…

  • Weekly workshop sessions, delivered during term time – building on skills and a sense of community (which will run at Dapdune Wharf, as of April 2025)
  • Drama Clubs for schools – extending our Prologue workshops into an informal, club setting
  • Drama-based educational workshops for schools – offering a fun and practical compliment to the curriculum
  • Community projects – enabling performance opportunities for our Youth Theatre members and extending access to the Arts further into the local area

In addition to our on-going services throughout the year, we produce a summer show in July – with a cast made up from our entire youth theatre and school drama clubs

Our Youth Theatre Apprentice position would be for someone to work with us from September 2025 – July 2026.

We are looking for sponsorship contributions that will help us reach £8000.

This amount would enable us to offer the following job spec:

  • Assisting 4 weekly youth theatre workshops – working with ages 8 – 18 – with a view of training to become a confident leader/facilitator by the end of the year
  • Assisting a weekly drama club in a Guildford borough school
  • Assisting with the curriculum workshops the Prologue runs for Longacre Junior School
  • Production assistant for 3 productions throughout the year
  • Co-leading a drama club for years 2/3, with a view of training to take on this group as the main leader after 1 term
  • Safeguarding training
  • First Aid training
  • DBS enhanced check
  • Training in company management, including: general administration and social media

Prologue prides itself on nurturing and developing young people’s confidence, self-esteem and skill set. This placement would not only create an amazing work experience for an early career’s facilitator, but also would benefit the engagement of all the young people in our youth theatre and drama clubs.

Our sponsor would have a place on our website, highlighting their contribution and linking back to their own socials and marketing; logos on all posters and flyers, digital and print; frequent mentions on our social media platforms; free tickets to our summer production; a 50% bursary for any family members of employees, who have young people interested in joining our youth theatre.
