Wildlife Aid’s much-loved Open Weekend returns on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, offering visitors the chance to enjoy a family day out while supporting one of the UK’s busiest wildlife rescue charities.
Taking place from 10am to 5pm on both days, the annual event is the charity’s largest fundraiser of the year, helping to fund the care and rehabilitation of the thousands of wild animals brought to its hospital every year. From hedgehogs and foxes to birds of prey and pigeons, the charity’s dedicated team works around the clock to give injured and orphaned wildlife a second chance.
The Open Weekend promises something for all ages, with a wide range of stalls, activities and entertainment throughout the site. Visitors can browse local arts and crafts, admire wildlife photography, shop for handmade gifts and artwork, and take part in practical activities such as making bird feeders. It is a chance to meet like-minded people, learn more about local wildlife and enjoy a relaxed summer atmosphere.
Food and drink will be available throughout the day, with the popular Gosia’s Table returning alongside a bar and ice cream stall, ensuring there is plenty on offer for those looking to make a day of it.

A particular highlight for many visitors will be the hospital tours, which provide a rare glimpse inside the wildlife hospital and an opportunity to learn more about the charity’s rescue and rehabilitation work. Open Weekend admission tickets can be purchased on the day, but hospital tour tickets must be booked in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours cost £3 per person, with under-fives admitted free.
Entry to the event is £5 per person, per day, while children under five can attend free of charge. Free parking is available in the field on Springfield Drive next to the hospital, kindly provided by KBR Leatherhead. For those travelling by train, the site is within easy walking distance of Leatherhead town centre and railway station.
Whether you are a long-standing supporter or simply looking for an enjoyable day out, Wildlife Aid’s Open Weekend offers a chance to get closer to the charity’s work while helping to support the care of Britain’s wildlife.
