Returning on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April 2026, the much-loved Surrey Hills Spring Fair promises a joyful countryside weekend for all ages. Set within the fascinating grounds of the Rural Life Living Museum in Tilford, the fair brings together traditional rural skills, artisan makers, local food, live music and family-friendly activities in a vibrant celebration of spring.

Ideal for families, friends and visitors looking to enjoy time outdoors, the Spring Fair captures everything that makes the Surrey Hills special. From hands-on crafts to relaxed moments soaking up the atmosphere, it offers the perfect balance of entertainment, learning and simple countryside pleasure.

Where Heritage and Countryside Skills Come to Life
At the heart of the Spring Fair are live countryside demonstrations that showcase traditional rural skills passed down through generations. Visitors can watch craftspeople at work, including blacksmiths, wheelwrights, spinners, weavers and operators of steam-powered sawmills. Alongside these demonstrations are hands-on workshops such as basket weaving, willow work and corn dolly making, offering a rare opportunity to get involved and learn more about rural heritage.

Family Fun for All Ages
Designed with families in mind, the fair offers activities to delight both children and adults. Woodland play, nature-inspired crafts, welly wanging and traditional games are dotted across the site, alongside the museum’s fascinating open-air exhibits. Live music from local bands creates a lively, relaxed atmosphere, while a ride behind a vintage steam-driven traction engine adds a touch of timeless charm.

Local Food, Drink and Artisan Makers
Food lovers will be well catered for with a tempting range of locally produced street food, sweet treats, beers, ciders and hot and cold drinks available throughout the weekend. Visitors can also browse stalls from Surrey Hills artisans, featuring handmade jewellery, ceramics, textiles, prints and homewares. Meeting the makers and hearing the stories behind their work offers a rewarding way to shop local and support independent businesses.

Supporting Rural Heritage and Local Causes
By attending the Spring Fair, visitors are supporting the Rural Life Living Museum and its ongoing work to preserve Surrey’s rural heritage for future generations. This year’s fair is proudly run in partnership with Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, with optional donations and on-site fundraising helping to support their vital work across the Surrey Hills.
