Romanticism – an introduction
Romanticism changed the landscape of European art, literature, and thought by legitimating subjectivity, emotional authenticity, and a return to the wonders and terrors of nature. Its legacy can be seen in later artistic movements and in the ongoing celebration of individuality and creative freedom.
This lively talk will touch on Politics, Music, Literature and Painting and meet characters like Napoleon, Nelson, Beethoven, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Constable and Turner on the way.
It’s only £2 to hear the talk AND enjoy tea and home-made biscuits and a chat afterwards.
