Box Hill Bedlam Border Morris – Dance, Music, Fitness

3 January 2027 / 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Event Series (See All)

Where fitness meets folklore. Dare to dance on the dark side?

Box Hill Bedlam’s Open Practice is your chance to experience a bold, creative twist on traditional Morris dancing. Forget hankies and bells—our steam-goth style blends rhythmic steps, clashing sticks, and moves inspired by local myths and modern riffs. Weekly practices lead to dance-outs in cities, towns, fêtes, and festivals across the Surrey Hills and South of England.

We’re a lively, mixed-gender side offering a fun, creative, and active way to keep fit. Based in Dorking town centre.

Join our practice if you’re curious, want to give it a go, or join

Here’s what makes Box Hill Bedlam more than just dancing:

1. A Bold, High-Energy Workout
This isn’t your average fitness class. It’s movement, rhythmic power, and full-body engagement, all disguised as an exhilarating, energy-filled dance. A creative way to keep fit without stepping inside a gym.

2. Unleash Your Creativity
If you’re looking for a creative outlet that’s different from anything else, this is it. The steam-goth aesthetic, theatrical performances, and raw energy make every session a chance to step into a different world and tell a story through movement.

3. A Thriving Social Scene
Morris is more than just dancing—it’s pints after practice, road trips to festivals, and joining a tight-knit, welcoming crew. Whether you’re looking to make new friends or just want to be part of something bigger, Bedlam brings people together.

4. Perform in Incredible Locations
From historic town squares to vibrant festivals, dance-outs take you across the Surrey Hills and beyond. There’s nothing quite like the buzz of performing, hearing the sticks clash, and feeling the energy of the crowd.

5. No Experience? No Problem!
If you can clap in time, you can learn to dance. The weekly open practice sessions make it easy to start, and the six-week trial period lets you find your footing before committing. It’s fun, accessible, and completely unique.
Ready to give it a go? See you in Bedlam.
