Guildford Crematorium has won a Civic Trust Award. The scheme recognises outstanding architecture, planning and design.
Guildford Crematorium was one of 45 projects recognised with an Award.
Lead Councillor for Environment, Cllr James Steel, says: “Our crematorium was thoughtfully redesigned by Haverstock Architects to create a very peaceful place for people to remember their loved ones.
“It is fantastic that Guildford Crematorium has won this prestigious award for the positive cultural, social, economic and environmental benefits it brings to our local community.
“It’s a real honour that one of the judges said: “The buildings provide a beautiful architectural backdrop to the celebration of life.”
The crematorium provides a chapel for 135 people seated and 50 standing spaces. The new reflection pool provides a meditative space filled with different colours and scents.
