Gather family, friends or work colleagues and sign up for a fun way to celebrate the festive season for a good cause! Phyllis Tuckwell’s Santa Fun Run will take place at 11am on Sunday 14th December, and will be started by Santa himself, who will be arriving on his sleigh to cheer on Phyllis Tuckwell’s fantastic runners.
This popular run always captures the community spirit of Christmas, with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. This year, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Hart, and with the support of Elvetham Heath parish council, it will be taking place in a brand-new location – The Key, in Elvetham Heath, Fleet. It will offer both a 5k route and a 2k option which will be accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and it isn’t timed, so you can walk, jog or run it at your own pace.
Instead of the usual Santa suits, this year all participants over the age of four will be given a Santa t-shirt to wear, which looks like a suit but is easier to run in and can be re-worn when participants come back next year, making it much more environmentally friendly. They’ll also be given a Santa hat to complete their festive look, and will be sent details of how to get sponsored to raise money for Phyllis Tuckwell. Every day, the Hospice Care charity supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers who are living with an advanced or terminal illness such as cancer, but as the NHS/Government only cover around 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every single day to do this.
“We’re really excited to be holding our fantastic Santa Fun Run at Elvetham Heath this year,” said Fiona Chapman, event fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “It’s always a really fun, community event, and we’d love to welcome you along. We’d like to thank the Rotary Club of Hart for partnering with us on this event, Elvetham Heath parish council for supporting the event, NTT Data and Vale Furnishers for sponsoring it, and the Blackwater Valley Runners for sponsoring the Santa t-shirts.”
Registration is £15 per adult and £7 per child, and includes a Santa t-shirt and hat. Sign up at pth.org.uk/santa-fun-run and join Phyllis Tuckwell for a fabulous, festive fun run!
