A little known but very exciting international music festival is taking place in Godalming in early August this year, and this is no ordinary festival.
The 2022 British Isles Music Festival is a unique event at which around 65 talented young musicians from 25 countries, including Ukraine, will meet at Charterhouse School for an intensive 9 days of masterclasses and performances.
12 professors, all established performers and teachers in UK and European Conservatories, will share their wealth of experience with the participants in honing their already exceptional talents.
Many of the participants are already accomplished musicians and performers in their own right – they are aged between 18 and 32 – and the performances at Charterhouse are of an exceptionally high standard.
Most of the performances (four every day, including Lunchtime Informal, 4pm Baroque, 6pm Duos and Solos, and 8pm Chamber Music Concert) are open to the public and present a great opportunity to people in Godalming and the surrounding area to experience brilliant chamber music concerts, performed by young people on the brink of glittering careers.
This is a rare event not to be missed, and in an intimate setting audiences will feel that they are adding to and taking part in the musicians’ experience.
The repertoire is both main-stream and sometimes unusual, and the concerts are extraordinary, not just for their quality but for the obvious warmth and friendship amongst people from many parts of the world. The audience is an important part of that.
