From poetry picnics and repair cafés to film screenings, swaps and community celebrations, Dorking is coming together for Great Big Green Week from 6th-14th June.

With more than one million people expected to take part this year under the national theme “Together for Good”, the event will highlight how collective local action can protect the places we love, strengthen communities and inspire positive change.

Dorking residents, visitors and businesses are invited to enjoy a vibrant programme of events organised by Circular Dorking in collaboration with local groups, organisations and volunteers across the town.

“We look forward to showcasing the creativity, enthusiasm and community spirit that continue to make Dorking a hub for sustainability and local action,” said Wendy Saunders from Circular Dorking.

The main community event – Dorking’s Big Swap, Switch, Share – is in St Martin’s Walk on Saturday 6th June from 10 am – 3 pm, where visitors can expect stalls, activities and family-friendly experiences to celebrate sustainable living.

This year’s programme also includes a Repair Café, Day of Dance, Eco Hub Bees & Nature Event, Screenings, Clothes Swap & Sale and the season’s first Band Stand Event. Everyone is encouraged to participate, meet local groups, and discover new ways to build a greener future. (Visit the Circular Dorking website for the full calendar.)

“We’re excited to see Dorking come together once again for Great Big Green Week. Every action – whether it’s repairing something, sharing skills, supporting local groups or simply starting conversations – helps create positive change. Great Big Green Week is about celebrating what communities can achieve together and inspiring as many people as possible to get involved.” Wendy concluded.
