SUMMARY:Grayshott Folk Club introduces: THE LUKE JACKSON TRIO
DESCRIPTION:Grayshott Folk Club introduces: \nTHE LUKE JACKSON TRIO\nhttps://www.lukepauljackson.com/ \nOne way of measuring the popularity and appeal of a performer\, is to look at their gig diary…………and Luke Jackson is a very busy young man. In July\, he will be touring as support to Jools Holland again and he will be visiting us in August\, on his way to playing at the Between The Trees Festival in Wales. Beyond that\, Luke will be touring all over the UK in September\, October and November. As well as playing in the UK\, Luke regularly tours across Europe\, USA and Canada. \nBlessed with a distinctive\, bluesy\, soulful voice\, UK based singer-songwriter Luke Jackson has developed an enviable reputation for himself around the Roots\, Acoustic\, Americana\, Blues & Folk circuits by virtue of his acclaimed recordings and dynamic live performances\, be they solo\, as a duo or with his trio.\nIn the Summer of 2019 he played the ‘Costa Del Folk’ Festival in Portugal\, and this year in April he played ‘Costa Del Folk’ again but this time in Ibiza with his trio. \nTo date\, Luke has released 7 records between his debut album and his latest release (“Bloom”) in 2024. One of these is a live album “Solo\, Duo\, Trio”\, \nSeptember 2019 marked his first full solo tour in the USA and he released a full length studio album (‘Journals’ ) in November that year to great reviews and it was chosen as ‘Album of the Year’ by Fatea Magazine\, with R2 Magazine agreeing:\n“Journals is an excellent album from a very special singer with a great repertoire\, fully confirming his star potential beyond the Folk scene” \nAfter returning to both Europe and the USA in early 2020 for another two successful tours\, Covid 19 stopped Luke touring altogether. Instead\, he kept himself busy and engaged with the musical community through a series of themed live stream shows and after a creative writing surge\, Luke then released a 7 track EP in early 2021 of songs written during lockdown called ‘Of The Time’. At the time Fatea magazine stated: \n“Luke Jackson has gifted us with one of the most important and essential releases I’ve heard in quite some time”\nwhilst At The Barrier journal noted:\n“At a time when the gift of music is something to cherish\, ‘Of The Time’ is an inspired offering”.\nIt was subsequently voted 2021 EP of the Year by Fatea Magazine and has more recently been released as a CD. \n2022 turned out to be one of Luke’s most successful years to date. It started with a prestigious support slot opening for Fairport Convention on their Winter Tour in February\, a dream run of openers for Richard Thompson\, two weeks song writing and performing in Nashville\, including a show at the iconic Bluebird Cafe\, a run of shows supporting the legendary Marillion and to finish off the year\, Luke played several openers with the wonderful Jools Holland. \nSomehow\, Luke also found time to re-record and release the ’10 year anniversary’ version of his very first album\, 2012’s ‘More Than Boys’ which prompted At The Barrier to say:\n“In fact the project is an exercise in growth – growth of a person\, growth of a musician and growth of a set of songs” \nAlongside all of this\, Luke continued to tour relentlessly in his own right\, either solo\, with either a bassist or drummer\, or as a trio with both of them. \n2024 and 2025 proved to be equally busy\, with highlights being a number of support slots opening for the legendary Jools Holland\, very well attended solo shows and a brilliant Trio tour in November to promote his 7th studio album ‘BLOOM’\, which has been very well received\, gaining universally positive reviews and to date\, over 60\,000 streams on Spotify. \n‘Bloom has been well worth the wait – twice through and I was hooked’ – Folking.com \n“I wonder how on earth he’s ever going to come up with something even better\, but each time\, he does'”\nKLOF MAG\n“Reminds me of Jeff Buckley\, which can only be a good thing.”\nMark Radcliffe BBC Radio 2 \nListen to Luke singing “Woman” here:\n \nTickets: £18 \nAvailable from Grayshott Post Office (in person only)\nBy phone from Des O’Byrne on: 01428 607096\nOr online through Ents24:\nhttps://www.ents24.com/hindhead-events/grayshott-village-hall/luke-jackson-trio/7491007
