The Occam Singers’ next concert, once again, looks to be both interesting and exciting. They sing Handel’s Dixit Dominus, an explosive statement of intent by the 22-year-old composer then living and working in Italy. Jan Dismas Zelenka is one of the great rediscoveries of the past fifty years, a composer of outstanding talent, famous in his day but almost entirely neglected since then. The concert also includes one of his settings of the Miserere, a tantalising example of his original and individual voice.
