Speaker: Antonia Gatward Cevizli

This talk complements the recent Royal Academy Exhibition ‘Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, Florence, c. 1504’

The first decade of the 16th century in Florence was an exhilarating place for an artist to work, brimming with new ideas and approaches. For a brief but intense period Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael coincided in Florence. The talk explores the rivalries between the artists and the impact that Michelangelo and Leonardo had on the young Raphael.
