St, Mary’s, West Horsley Heritage Sunday.
St. Marys’ Parish Church was built in 1030 AD by Thored, a Christian Dane. Magnificent wall paintings and stained glass memorials date from the 12th century, along with architecture representing the ages. Builders, weavers, carpenters and farmers feature in the rich history of the building. Sir Walter Raleigh’s embalmed head is buried under the church, with members of his family. Come and explore, enjoy tea, cakes, and a quiz for children. The event is free. St. Mary’s Parish Church, Epsom Road, West Horsley, KT24 6AP
