This is a gig we’ve been trying to arrange for some considerable time but now the stars have aligned so we can finally announce that Ranagri will be playing for us at Grayshott Village Hall on Saturday 19th September 2026. This year, Ranagri have already completed tours in Australia and across the UK but we’ve managed to grab them as they travel the UK on a second tour.

Ranagri are: Dónal Rogers, a prolific songwriter and producer, who has joined forces with the exceptional flautist Eliza Marshall (https://elizamarshall.com/), harpist Eleanor Dunsdon and percussionist Jordan Murray. Together, they establish a fresh and modern sonic landscape within the Folk genre, captivating audiences both domestically and internationally. They are an energetic festival band but are equally at home playing Folk Clubs with their more intimate writing and thought-provoking lyrics.

Ranagri is an award-winning folk band from Ireland and England who play a unique blend of instruments that includes; voices, guitar, bouzouki, flutes, whistles, harp/electric harp, and bodhrán/drums. They create a sound that is both mesmerising and unforgettable and to date, have recorded five studio albums, with their latest release, ‘Tradition II,’ receiving critical acclaim upon its release in July 2022. Folk Radio UK placed that album in their top 10 albums of 2022, cementing the band’s status as one of the most exciting and innovative Folk bands in the UK today.

Ranagri have established themselves as a standout act, drawing in crowds from around the world with their captivating live performances and exceptional musicianship. They have performed at some of the most prestigious venues & festivals across the UK and Europe, including; Cambridge Folk Festival, Bloom Festival (Dublin), Montelago Festival (Italy), Towersey Festival, a headline slot at Costa Festival Ibiza 2023, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Union Chapel, Kings Place London along with regular tours of Scotland and Europe. In 2024, Ranagri played at CROPREDY, WICKHAM & SHREWSBURY Festivals.

Previous critically acclaimed albums, ‘Playing For Luck,’ ‘Fort of the Hare,’ and ‘The Great Irish Songbook’ (with pop legend Tony Christie), were recorded on the Grammy Award-winning Stockfisch Records label. The band’s third album, ‘VOICES,’ was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.
They are as happy to make you dance as they are to make you smile or shed a tear, passionately delving into current world topics, playing with politics, and creating uplifting music to lyrics with great depth.

In August 2024, Matthew Bannister devoted a podcast from his “Folk On Foot” series to Ranagri. It was filmed in Ireland on the Farm where Dónal Rogers grew up and which gave the band its name.
