Free Talk – Berta’s Flax – Jun 25 – 18:30 BST

25 June / 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

🌿 *Join Us for a Talk on Austrian Linen History and Berta’s Flax* 🌿
Berta’s Flax is a project that has connected textile artists from many countries, keeping traditional flax crafts alive and inspiring new generations.
Berta’s Flax started with the story of Berta Pumberger-Windhager, a farmer’s daughter whose dowry chests of flax and linen represent a unique part of Austrian heritage. In the 1950s, these chests symbolized personal wealth and security for women, filled with hand-processed flax and woven linen.
Christiane Seufferlein has become the guardian of these dowry chests and shares the stories and customs she learned from the families who donated their dowry chests to the project.
