Dorking Museum’s first family activity of the new year is Dorking’s Fabulous Creatures at Dorking Library, St. Martin’s Walk on Saturday 11th January, 10am to 1pm. Families are invited to celebrate the most wonderful animals from Dorking’s history – an elephant parade through the town (yes, really, a Sanger’s Circus Parade in 1898 was featured in several images at the time), a local dinosaur, a peregrine falcon, the famous Dorking cockerel – by helping to create a colourful collage to go on the library wall. All materials are provided free, with grateful thanks to the Arts Society Dorking. Also for families, from 11th January, during the remaining period of the museum’s current special exhibition, ‘Building between the vines – the story of the Denbies Lego house’, there will be a Lego Dorking Cockerel trail around the museum itself for children to follow.
