Our meeting at 2pm on Tuesday 11 March features a presentation entitled
Reading to Victoria via Dover
by
Peter Jones
This will cover the evolution of train services over these routes using Peter’s pictures which include steam, diesel and electric traction.
Peter is a much-appreciated regular visitor to Dorking. He started taking railway pictures in the shed yard at his native Aberdare about 1958 and since then has photographed the railway scene at many locations in England, Scotland and Wales plus some in Germany, Austria and Holland. His pictures have been printed in about 50 books although he has yet to publish a volume of his own.
As always, anyone interested in railways is welcome at the Friends Meeting House, Butter Hill, South Street, Dorking RH4 2LE. Admission is £4 for members and £5 for non-members, including refreshments.
