Dorking Community Orchard hold work evenings, in the orchard, during the summertime period (April to October). Currently the evenings are always the first and third Mondays of each month. The orchard is a 2-acre site, with some 200 fruit trees. Orchard tasks include tree maintenance, watering if dry, mulching, grass mowing & strimming, cutting back encroaching brambles and dogwood.
Work evenings start from about 4:30pm, and run until about 7pm., but attendance is completely flexible to allow for volunteers who have other committments, or who can only manage part of the period.
Later in the year there is apple picking in the orchard and at other local orchards. Plus cider making, helping with public apple pressings (eg at Denbies), and the annual Wassail.
