SUMMARY:Fiona Pearce: Making Shapes
DESCRIPTION:Fiona Pearce’s paintings burst with colour and energy\, celebrating the countryside around her Upper Farringdon studio. Working mainly in acrylics\, Fiona layers paint to create depth and atmosphere\, often beginning with digital sketches before translating them onto canvas by hand. Her work captures the rhythm of fields\, hedgerows\, and skies as well as the joy of a fleeting moment glimpsed on a walk or from the car window. \nThis exhibition marks a new chapter in Fiona’s practice\, unveiling vibrant floral paintings alongside her much-loved landscapes. Whether depicting a rolling horizon or a bloom in full glory\, these new works invite the viewer to feel the movement and light that inspire her.

SUMMARY:Pete Jackman: Layers of the Land
DESCRIPTION:Pete Jackman’s paintings explore the shifting moods\, colours\, and textures of the British coastline and countryside. Known for his layered approach in oils\, Pete creates surfaces that echo the weathering of land and the passage of time. His work balances realism and abstraction\, capturing light\, atmosphere\, and a sense of place that invites quiet reflection. \nThis new collection brings together his much-admired coastal and rural scenes with fresh work inspired by a recent trip to the Suffolk coast. The paintings deepen his exploration of space and texture\, with subtle shifts in colour and form that heighten mood and memory. Whether evoking the solitude of an open shore or the stillness of a distant horizon\, Pete’s work captures landscapes shaped as much by experience as by observation. \nWe are showing Pete’s work alongside ceramics by Jessica Jordan. Her work takes aerial views of West Sussex landscapes\, downs\, seascapes and seasonal patterns\, and translates them into sculptural vessels\, wall hangings and bowls. Her pieces layer texture\, pattern and natural marks that recall erosion\, weathering and the passage of time.

SUMMARY:Makila Nsika (M.Kala): Pattern\, Texture\, Ornament
DESCRIPTION:New Ashgate Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Makila Nsika (M.Kala)\, winner of the Rising Stars 2025 Award. The exhibition brings together new jewellery and object-based work shaped by Makila’s ongoing research into pattern\, repetition\, and surface\, developed through careful making and collaboration. \nMakila is a London-based teacher\, designer and jeweller whose practice connects contemporary jewellery with cultural heritage and responsible material choices. Her use of stones is now focused within a single collection\, using lab-grown diamonds and potentially other lab-grown stones. Alongside this collection\, Makila has developed a series of rings with hand-textured surfaces made in collaboration with an artisan\, where tactile pattern becomes the main visual and conceptual language. \nThe exhibition also introduces a larger-scale work in development using raffia\, drawing on histories of body ornament. This new piece considers ornament as a social and cultural structure that can frame\, reveal\, or obscure the body\, informed by Makila’s dual cultural inheritance\, African and European. A selection of work will be available to buy\, offering collectors the chance to acquire pieces from an emerging practice at a key stage of growth.

SUMMARY:Christina Taylor-Smith: Zen Garden
DESCRIPTION:Christina Taylor-Smith is a British printmaker whose work uses line\, texture and colour to map the pull between natural rhythms and human-made structures. This exhibition focuses on her new Oxford body of work. Expect layered prints with a strong sense of surface and light\, built through drawn marks\, embossing and\, in some pieces\, metal leaf. \nThe starting point is a crane motif\, chosen for its associations with wisdom\, longevity\, and renewal. Christina developed the work while researching Waterperry Gardens and the ideas behind The Printed Garden\, tracing links between observation\, philosophy\, and the love of wisdom. In a time that can feel loud and uncertain\, the work holds space for attention\, clarity\, and quiet strength. \nChristina studied fine art in Brussels and at the Surrey Institute in Farnham and was Head of Printmaking and Artist in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre.

SUMMARY:Shorelines and Horizons
DESCRIPTION:Shorelines and Horizons brings together large-scale prints by three significant figures in British art: Trevor Price\, Barbara Rae and Donald Hamilton Fraser. The exhibition focuses on landscape as structure and sensation rather than description. Trevor Price’s woodcuts and engravings build dense surfaces through repeated line\, capturing water\, woodland\, vegetation and reflection with quiet intensity. Barbara Rae’s prints use colour and compression to hold coast\, sea and sky in dynamic balance. Donald Hamilton Fraser’s work centres on horizon and division\, using strong colour relationships to create tension\, depth and rhythm. \nThese are substantial works on paper\, selected for their scale and visual weight. Shorelines and Horizons offers a focused encounter with how three artists approach landscape through print\, each using different means to address light\, distance and movement. The exhibition rewards sustained looking and will appeal to collectors seeking confident\, collectable prints with strong physical presence. Shown together\, the works reveal both contrast and shared ground\, reinforcing printmaking as a medium capable of ambition\, impact and lasting relevance.

SUMMARY:Grayshott Folk Club welcomes back: KRIS DREVER
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 22nd April 2026 at 7.30pm \nGrayshott Folk club welcomes back:\nKRIS DREVER (on tour from Scotland)\nhttps://www.krisdrever.com/ \nWe warmly welcome back Kris Drever for his third visit to Grayshott Folk Club. In November 2018\, he played for us as a member of super group and multi award-winning Lau. In March 2025\, he returned in a duo with Fiddle player and fellow Scot\, Chris Stout and played for us at Churt Village Hall. Tonight\, Kris plays solo. \nKris Drever is among Scotland’s most acclaimed and distinctive contemporary musicians. He is celebrated for his warm voice\, virtuoso and expressive guitar playing as well as his imaginative and evocative song writing. Raised in the Orkney Islands\, Kris- has carved out a unique place at the intersection of traditional Folk and modern acoustic music as a solo artist\, as one third of the award-winning trio Lau and as a collaborator of the highest order with a wide range of top musicians. \nOver the course of his career\, Kris has won hatfuls of honours\, including BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Singer\, Best Original Song\, and Best Group as a member of Lau. His solo work combines lyrics of depth and authenticity with expertly pitched arrangements\, exploring themes of place\, identity\, and social change\, delivered with clarity\, compassion\, and poetic insight. \nKris Drever is a go-to Master Musician who has been involved in so many different projects throughout the years and we feel privileged that he has elected to include us on this tour which will help him to launch and promote his brand new album “Doing This For Love”. \nDespite some earlier misgivings that Kris had about his new album and a short crisis of confidence over it\, Kris met up with musical friend Euan Burton\, who persuaded Kris to re-visit and re-interpret his songs and with Euan’s help and that of several musician friends\, the album took on a new lease of life until\, as Kris says in his own words: \n“Somewhere along the way\, we all made a record that is uniquely itself and stands up\, in my considered opinion\, with the best things I’ve ever made\, with anybody\, ever.” \nI urge everybody to come along and judge for themselves…….. \nKris was featured playing live on the BBC Radio Folk Show on Wednesday 28th January 2026 when he premiered a song from his new album\, called\, “Save A Space”.\nYou can hear it here at about 37 minutes in to the programme: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002q5py \nHe also recently released a single from the album in time for this tour. It is called “Change” and this too was featured on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show on 18th March 2026. Here it is at about 37 minutes (coincidentally)\, into the programme and just after Fairport Convention:\nhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002sl9r \nHere are a few other\, older songs by Kris\, that I particularly enjoy: \n“If Wishes Were Horses”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tFCES3SWBU&list=RD3tFCES3SWBU&start_radio=1 \n“Throwing Pennies”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xozmhQZB48A&list=RD3tFCES3SWBU&index=12 \nSpell Songs II “Let The Light In: Oak”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5PRlorjsps&list=RDi5PRlorjsps&start_radio=1 \nSupport: Annie Dressner\nhttps://anniedressner.com/home \nAnnie Dressner is a singer-songwriter\, originally from New York City but now living in Cambridge\, UK. Brimming with razor sharp wit\, emotional poignancy and glorious melodies\, Annie’s straightforward lyrical style\, smart wordplay and lilting vocals offer listeners a front row seat to her captivating stories. \nTickets £20 \nAvailable (in person only) from Grayshott Post Office\nReservations with Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096\nOnline tickets from Ents24:\nhttps://www.ents24.com/hindhead-events/grayshott-village-hall/kris-drever/7409310 \nAt:\nGrayshott Village Hall\, Headley Road\, Grayshott\,\nNr.
