Frensham Pond Sailability celebrated its 21st anniversary this year.

From small beginnings organised by the Frensham Pond Sailing Club it is now an imortants charitable organisation and one of the most successful Sailability clubs in the country. Its aim is to enable people with disabilities to enjoy sailing – to learn to sail and build skills to enjoy it to the full..

The club relies on volunteers and all those involved derive great satisfaction from what they do, but they need more help than ever. There are many opportunities for new volunteers who would like to get involved in this worthwhile activity. You do not need to have sailing experience, as there are many opportunities to help with other aspects of the club’s activities as well. For example, help is always needed with the administration and registration of those who come to sail.

There are also roles in IT, publicity and marketing, catering and maintaining and servicing the boats and equipment. Indeed, there is something for everyone who might like to contribute their skills and experience to help this disadvantaged but very appreciative group of people.

There are several ways to offer your services. The club website (see the address below) has a section explaining the roles of the volunteers and an email address to make contact with any  enquiries. In addition it is possible to use the club’s Facebook page to send a message. Sailing takes place on Thursday mornings and afternoons, and Saturday mornings between April and October, and everyone is most welcome to come along.
