While many towns and villages across the country cancelled their Christmas lights events this year due to the adverse weather brought by Storm Bert, Cranleigh stood firm in its commitment to spreading holiday cheer, declaring, “The show must go on!” with their Christmas lights switch-on event.
Even though the planned Lantern Procession and Christmas Craft Market were postponed to the later date of 14th December, the festive celebrations last Saturday still featured wonderful live entertainment from talented local musicians, a delightful kiddie funfair, and a special appearance by Father Christmas himself. Santa not only lit up Cranleigh’s dazzling Christmas lights but also took the time to chat with excited children, making the evening unforgettable for families.
Throughout the day, local businesses received promotional shoutouts from the charismatic compere, Adam Pearce, highlighting the strength and unity of Cranleigh’s community and business spirit.
The rescheduled Lantern Procession and Craft Fair will now take place on December 14th, ensuring that the holiday festivities continue to bring joy and celebration to the High Street.
Cranleigh’s determination to persevere and adapt serves as a heartwarming reminder of the true spirit of Christmas. Don’t miss the upcoming events on December 14th—mark your calendars and join in the magic!
