‘Art in the Garden’ – an annual treat for art and garden-lovers alike – will again take place this autumn at the beautiful Savill Garden in Englefield Green, Surrey. The trail will be open from 11th September to 29th October. Tickets to the event can be booked online.
The award-winning garden is a haven of natural beauty and tranquility, encompassing some 35 acres of gardens and woodlands. The seasonal colour palette, from the Mediterranean-style Dry Garden to the Herbaceous Borders, acts as the perfect backdrop for the many and varied sculptures on display.
Surrey Sculpture Society, whose members comprise both emerging artists and professional sculptors, will curate an extensive, site specific sculpture trail combining a variety of styles, subject matter and materials for visitors to engage with and enjoy. All the artwork is for sale.
Caroline Wheaton, Surrey Sculpture Society’s Exhibition Manager, commented:
“The Society celebrates 30 years of creativity this year; how fitting to be able to include the renowned Savill Garden in our celebrations. A privilege, as always, to work with the team at Windsor Great Park to provide this beautiful sculpture trail in such an exquisite setting. The wide variety of sculptures in the exhibition means that there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.”
Michelle Cleave, Supervisor of The Savill Garden commented: “Sculpture is fundamentally about objects in space, and about materials and techniques becoming form. The relationship to landscape pushes this into new and exciting spaces, with the history of gardens offering another dynamic. The 2024 Surrey Sculpture Society exhibition in The Savill Garden builds on this story, creating new narratives for the sculptures and visitors alike.”
The Savill Garden is located at Wick Lane, Englefield Green, TW20 0UU
